What better place to visit than the Lake District at Easter. Although not being the birth place of daffodils, the Lake District does represent the daffodil very well with the abundance on roadsides and in parks and the hugely famous Wordsworth poem of the same name.
The daffodil seems to epitomise the Lake District being bright, fresh and plentiful just like the open countryside, fresh air, lakes and mountains in this region. A certain Mr William Wordsworth most certainly had a fondness for them.
So it lends itself quite well to either a cheeky Easter weekend break or for a family taking advantage of the two week school holidays. For a family, it’s a great time to enjoy a full week away or even really go for it and make it two weeks.
Spring time is an excellent time to visit the Lakes. Even though is a beautiful place to visit whatever the time of year, there is something about the spring air, the colours of the landscape and the fact it really feels as though it is coming alive. Everywhere is bright green, fresh and new including the super cute lambs found in their thousands in nearly every visible field.
Easter is perfectly located in the middle of April this year, the freshness and newness will be even more evident in the Lake District and even some daffodils may be out. It is just really worth while taking advantage of the extra long Bank Holiday weekend isn’t it. Two free days off and often much needed after a long, cold winter of which this winter has been long and cold for all!
